On April 14, 2000 after a studied evaluation and assessment of security needs within The Bahamas, Mr. Henry Wemyss, retired Police Inspector of The Royal Bahamas Police Force and former Director of Security at Bahamas Telecommunications Company, began Wemco’s operations at a small office located on Harold Road. At that time, our sole client was the Bahamas Telecommunications Company and our employees consisted of three (3) administrative staff ­ two (2) secretaries and a Field Manager – and ninety (90) security officers

Within a year, the company had already grown by 25% and had expanded its clientele base to include Comfort Suites Hotel, Restaurants Bahamas (KFC), The National Insurance Board and Deloitte and Touché. With such a rapid growth, the company quickly outgrew its office space and was forced to relocate to a larger facility on Dowdeswell Street.

Expanded Services

From its inception, Wemco poised itself as the #1 provider of security services within the Commonwealth of The Bahamas by anticipating and meeting the changing security needs of our corporate and private clients. As we grew, Wemco recognized the increasingly diverse demands of new and existing clients and complemented its physical security services with other services, such as corporate investigations, screening of applicants and private investigations.

Office Relocation

Wemco continued to experience rapid growth and it was not long before it had outgrown its Dowdeswell Street office and management decided to acquire its own property on which to construct a home for its operations. By 2002, that goal was accomplished and Wemco was relocated to its existing facilities at #32 Anselm House, Collins Avenue in a two story edifice, which also houses WEMCO’s 24 hour Alarm Control Center, which is equipped with state ­of­ the­ art security technology, administrative offices, a boardroom and a Security Operations Training & Development Center which is located on the first floor.

Growth & Future

Thanks to the continued goodwill of our many satisfied clients and the commitment and loyalty of our employees, Wemco continues to successfully meet the needs of its long standing clients and have a staff compliment of just over 300 employees. Throughout the years, our services have expanded tremendously to offer our clients with a wide range of security products and services including alarm installation and monitoring, CCTV Systems, K9 services and 24­hour rapid response.
